How to Put the Console Into Sleep Mode

Instructions for putting the Nintendo Switch console into sleep mode.

There are several ways to put the console into sleep mode:

  • Press the POWER Button.
    Press the POWER Button once. The screen will shut off and the console will enter sleep mode.

Power Button

  • From the POWER Menu.
  1. Press and hold the POWER Button for at least three seconds for the POWER Menu to be displayed.
  2. Select "Power Options" > "Sleep Mode."
  • From the Quick Start screen.
  1. Hold down the HOME Button on the Right Joy-Con for at least one second to open the Quick Start screen.
  2. Select "Sleep Mode."

To wake the console from sleep mode, press the POWER Button or the HOME Button.
